Poetry is growing in Cape Town:

“My personal favourites of the evening were the angelic Kgothatso Mokgopa, who delivered a matter of fact poem about the grey area with regard to rape and sexualisation of females within society, and Koleka Putuma, who delivered an intimate portrayal of an individuals’ struggle with organised religion and the appreciation of a pious mother.” [Roche Kester]

InZync Poetry Session

 13 April 2012, Write Up On Koleka Putuma’s Performance & Writing  :

“What we have here is an extraordinary ability to take both expected concords any educated life is usually asked to make good on, as well as pejorative flashes to the contrary (the necessary dark side to the light) that merely serves as a device to reach a destination ultimately more satisfying.
